Look inside

Section 3B: what nobody may do.

This is section 3B of the adult Model Release, exactly as it appears in the book. The same refusals run through every release in the pack. In the minor release, the nude and intimate line has no exception at all.

--- MODEL RELEASE, ADULTS: SECTION 3B ---

3B. USES NEVER PERMITTED

These apply regardless of what is checked in 3A, cannot be waived by this document, and bind anyone the Photographer licenses, sells, or transfers these photographs to. If the Photographer licenses or transfers these photographs onward, this section travels with them and the Photographer will say so in writing to the recipient.

•  Creating synthetic or generated images, video, or audio of me from these photographs, including any digital replica, avatar, face swap, body double, or animation.

•  Using these photographs, in whole or in part, to train, fine-tune, or develop any machine learning or generative system, or providing them to any third party for that purpose.

•  Any nude, sexual, intimate, or sexually suggestive photograph of me, except where covered by a signed Nude and Intimate Session Addendum executed on or before the session date.

•  Any nude, sexual, intimate, or sexually suggestive synthetic or generated depiction of me. This applies absolutely, cannot be waived, and is not affected by any addendum.

•  Any alteration that materially misrepresents what I did, said, or appeared to do.

•  Any use implying my endorsement of a product, service, person, cause, or political position, absent a separate signed agreement.

•  Any use in a defamatory, degrading, or unlawful context.

--- END OF SECTION 3B ---
Why this one works

It names the digital replica, the face swap and the training set, so nobody can argue they were never mentioned. It travels with the photographs to whoever licenses them next. A signed addendum can permit an intimate photograph, but no signature can permit a synthetic one.

Questions

What do I get?

Eleven releases in one fillable PDF that works on an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Windows with nothing to install. Type your name, studio, phone, email and governing state once and they appear on every release. You also get editable Word copies of the four full releases and the English short form, a printable index for the wall above your desk, and a plain-English license.

Which app do I open it in?

Files, Preview or Acrobat Reader. Apple Books will display the PDF but will not save what you type into it.

Why does the English version govern?

Every bilingual release says so, which is what real bilingual agreements do. The translation is there so your subject can read and understand what they are signing. The English text is the text that binds. The translations were prepared with AI assistance and have not been reviewed by a native-speaking lawyer in each country. That is why the English text governs.

Is this legal advice?

No. These releases are a starting point, not legal advice, and neither the author nor Sterling Grey Studio is your lawyer. Permission to use someone’s likeness is governed by state law and it varies. If your work involves commercial licensing or advertising, have a lawyer in your own state read them once. That single review costs less than one dispute.

How was this made?

I built The Client Book with AI assistance and edited, directed and approved every line. I chose the emails, the releases and the clauses because they are the ones photographers get stuck on. Nothing here is legal advice.
